Pierre Poilievre’s Conservatives now calling for arrest of their perceived political opponents

Jason Pugh Aug 27, 2024

Well, it finally happened.

A few hours ago, Conservative Party of Canada Member of Parliament Michael Barrett released this video:

“What happens if he’s in New York City? Can the summons be served to him there? Well, no. But, he’ll come back, and when he does come back to Canada if he hasn’t appeared per the summons, he’d be arrested on his return to Canada.” – Conservative Member of Parliament Michael Barrett

Apparently, Michael didn’t get the memo:

Conservatives pledge to force Tom Clark testimony on $9M NYC condo purchase

Conservative ethics critic Michael Barrett says his party will move a motion to force testimony from Canada’s representative in New York if he does not appear at a Tuesday committee study into the purchase of a $9-million condo in Manhattan.

Now, here’s the critical part that Michael is leaving out:

But a spokesperson for Global Affairs Canada said in a statement to CTV News: “Consul General Clark is unavailable on the date initially proposed. However, he has indicated he is happy to attend, and work is underway with the committee to find an alternate date.”

Plus, there’s the fact that the old unit was just listed for $13 million, and it would have cost a couple of million to renovate the old unit, so, according to Global Affairs Spokeswoman Charlotte MacLeod, the purchase saved Canadians millions of dollars.

So, we’re coming out ahead on the deal. Great! Right?

Well, not according to rage-farming Cons. Of course, Garnett and Michael tried to explain the good news (Coming out ahead by $4-6M) away by saying the old unit was only listed and hadn’t been sold for that much, so *something something* it magically doesn’t matter.

When, in fact, it blows this whole bullshit scandal out of the water.

But we all know this isn’t about the $9 million spent on Trudeau’s “man in New York” or whatever the hell Barrett was going about.

Debate moderator Tom Clark, a former veteran political journalist, promised a debate heavy on policy issues and free of interruptions, which was largely the case for the the bulk of the debate.

It’s all about having another rage-farming scandal, and this:

That’s what it’s really all about. Cons know this isn’t a scandal. At all.

This whole BS “scandal” is no different than how they harassed former Governor General David Johnston out of being the Special Rapporteur. Saying he and Justin were “Ski buddies” because 50 years ago, Johnston owned a house 50 kilometres away from Pierre Trudeau…or some such stupidity.

After former Governor General David Johnston appeared before committee today, Conservative Party of Canada MP Michael Cooper held a presser, and this happened

This fake “scandal” is about two things.

Number one, they must keep the faux-rage machine chugging along at all times. That’s what they use to fill in the gaps between Pierre Poilievre blurting out three-word slogans.

The second point is, as I said in the tweet above, to harass and hound anyone either appointed by the Liberals or who may be considering run for them.

To the point where Barrett is saying they’ll have Canada’s consul general in New York, Tom Clark, ARRESTED over their completely fabricated “scandal.”

Global Affairs Canada ‘very proud’ of $9M NYC condo purchase, says consul general Tom Clark didn’t influence

“There was no influence from Mr. Clark. He was not involved in the consultation or decision process,” said senior assistant deputy minister at Global Affairs Canada Stéphane Cousineau.

I’ve said before and I’ll say it again: Conservatives are out to destroy all social and political norms in Canada.

I mean, just look at their leader. There’s certainly nothing normal about Pierre Poilievre.
