Levelling the Political Playing Field with Kacey Machin & Lana Cuthbertson
About the Episode
Social Media has many great uses, but there’s a seedy underbelly that exposes itself when politics are at play. It is understood that criticism is expected when one enters politics, but the abuse is at an all-time high, especially for women. Enter Parity YEG, the brainchild of Kacey Machin and Lana Cuthbertson, whose late night WhatsApp conversation in 2017 laid the groundwork for the movement. Its goal is simple: enable and empower more women to get elected and eliminate the inequality that exists.
In this episode, you’ll hear how their Twitter Bot combats negativity online, and when you can expect to see it in action again. There are some additional compelling moments you will hear, including why Kacey and Lana decided to make this a “for profit” venture, and the harassment the guests (and Carrie) have encountered in the line of work. Now is a good time to support the cause of eliminating inequality in politics.
You can become a member here, or donate directly to the Parity YEG Patreon page, which creates Twitter Bots that spread positivity throughout the Twitterverse. Venture capitalists can contact Kasey or Lana here.
