Sports Honchos – Season 1 – Episode 7

About the Episode

The Sports Honchos. Hosted by Paul C. Cuthbert and Robert Kuney.

Tonight’s show took a serious turn as the Honchos realized just how much Covid was a part of just about every sports conversation. The night started with a discussion of invitation ethics followed by the story of the year involving Mike Tyson and, well, you just have to listen. First up was MLB talk with the Red Sox rehiring of Alex Cora and the new owner of the Mets. Then the Covid talk began after looking at the Dodgers outbreak and the lack of punishment by the MLB for Justin Turner. The MLB talk ended with La Russa’s latest legal troubles.

The boys next turned to what the NBA and the NHL are doing to restart their respective seasons in the shadow of the pandemic, followed by a discussion of how college football is dealing (or in the case of Notre Dame, not dealing) with Covid-19. Rob then got a chance to plead his case as to why the “Two Jims” of the Big 10, Harbaugh and Franklin, should be fired.

The NFL roundup was Covid-free as the Honchos looked at who is in command in the up for grabs NFC, the future of the QB position, whether Dalvin Cook is a legitimate MVP candidate, and who is to blame for the mess in Tampa Bay.

The Honchos closed the show with a special tribute to Alex Trebek and Sean Connery, and then tied it all up with the Dope of the Week.
