Yes, yes. We all know that with Conservatives, the hypocrisy is often the point. As, apparently, their only reason for existing at this point is to “trigger” and “own” the libs.
However, I really don’t think that’s the case here with Pierre Poilievre.
He’s just so hellbent on criticizing Trudeau that he failed to see the hypocrisy of his statement.
Twitter user Univrsle (@univrsle) summed it up perfectly:
I am so tired of the incoherent messaging of the Conservative Party. Either the PM broke everything and needs to fix everything regardless of jurisdiction….OR….he needs to stay out of provincial politics. Which is it before you opine? #cdnpoli https://t.co/s4uk7qLoFH

So Poilievre, who likes to lay the blame for every single thing that occurs in Canada at the feet of the Prime Minister, regardless of jurisdiction, is saying that the PM should “butt out” of THIS provincial matter. Yet, it was perfectly fine for the leader of His Majesty’s Loyal Opposition to weigh in on the Toronto mayoral race:
In an interview with @CityNewsOttawa federal Conservative Leader @PierrePoilievre says it would be "bonkers" for Toronto to elect @oliviachow as mayor. #cdnpoli #TOpoli #onpoli
Listen to the interview at the link below:https://t.co/CQf1XV1kAH— Cormac Mac Sweeney (@cmaconthehill) June 22, 2023
“It’s bonkers. We’ve seen what happens when you put Liberal-NDP mayors in charge of cities.
Look at what happened to Vancouver under their NDP mayor. The Downtown East Side turned into a living hell with tent cities everywhere; housing prices became the third most expensive in the entire world because the council wouldn’t let any new building go ahead.”
In that interview Poilievre blamed all of Vancouver’s current problems on their NDP Mayor. Which is rather odd since just last November he was placing the blame for those very same issues on Justin Trudeau.
Do you think the safety and well-being of the students at the heart of the matter even crossed Poilievre’s mind?
Or does he see them, like anything else, as just more political fodder to be used to attack?
Guys like Pierre Poilievre talk a good game about freedom.
But not all kids are free to be themselves at home.
Not all parents are accepting.
Not all homes are safe.
Schools can be.
Schools should be.https://t.co/7awFKObN4y— Seamus O'Regan Jr (@SeamusORegan) June 27, 2023
Just like Higgs, I don’t think Poilievre gives a damn, or a second thought, about how the changes to 713 will affect students’ lives.
Students’ safety should be priority number one. Full stop.
Time for politicians to leave our kids alone.
