UPDATE: Poilievre *would refuse* briefing to play politics

Jason Pugh Mar 20, 2023

UPDATE: Today in the House of Commons Liberal MP Mark Holland clarified that he misspoke yesterday. Pierre Poilievre wasn’t offered a briefing. No no. Pierre Poilievre just publicly stated that he would REFUSE such a briefing. (So that he could continue to spread his BS and lies.)

Video: Mark Holland corrects his statement. It’s actually worse because Poilievre said DON’T EVEN BOTHER!

“There are lots of questions the Prime Minister does not want to answer.” claimed Larry Brock in the House of Commons this afternoon.

He then went on to ask his questions which you can see here:

“Number one. Were the Liberals briefed by National Security officials that at least one Liberal candidate in 2019 was allegedly part of the interference network from Beijing?”

Now here’s the question that puts the CPC and, more importantly, Pierre Poilievre’s hypocrisy on full display:

“Two. Did they willfully ignore that warning because it was to their advantage?”

Willfully ignore. Mr. Brock is wondering if Liberals willfully ignored?

Brock continued:

“Three. Did they know that eleven candidates in that election, nine of which were Liberals, were favoured by Beijing?”

“Four. Were Trudeau and his advisors also briefed about China working to defeat Conservative candidates in 2021?”

The Speaker of the House stopped Brock there because you’re not allowed to use the names of MPs in the HoC. I cut the video there. Brock did continue with more questions.

My point is here that Mr. Brock was asking if Liberals and the Prime Minister were briefed AND, as you see in his 2nd question, if they willfully ignored anything because it was to their advantage.

To willfully ignore something because it is to your advantage politically would mean that you’re not looking out for what’s best for Canada and our democracy. Right?

Which is EXACTLY what Pierre Poilievre PROUDLY admitted to doing.

See here:

Poilievre REFUSED to be briefed on the matter. To see the facts. He called it a “trap and a trick” that was really meant to “silence” him.

“It would then become illegal for me to speak out.” -Poilievre

To “speak out” Pierre Poilievre? Or illegal to knowingly and willingly spread lies and bullshit?

This was from Question Period today:

Twitter user @sqirlgirly was right by calling it like it is.

“He admitted to refusing to be briefed on this cause once informed he’d no longer be able to spew garbage.”

@sqirlgirly then made another excellent point:

DAMN RIGHT!

So according to CPC Convoy Party of Canada leader, Pierre Poilievre, being offered to be briefed on foreign interference is merely a “trap.”

This is from the leader of His Majesty’s Official Opposition.

So Pierre and the rest of the Cons don’t care one bit about Political interference. If they did they’d want to investigate it ALL. Like Russia and the whole “freedom rally” connection.

NDP MP Blake Desjarlais rose to ask Mr. Brock about just that:

Brock admits that there are problems from other countries, including Russia, but says the motion they introduced is “narrowly defined” and that “We are here to discuss China.”

Russia used state-funded propaganda outlet to whip up support for the ‘Freedom Convoy’ and undermine the Trudeau government

Motivated by ONLY what they think will be most politically damaging to the Prime Minister.

If they truly wanted to defend Canada and our elections and protect us from political interference they’d want to get to the bottom of ALL of it.

Instead, Poilievre and the rest of his CPC bottom feeders just want to play games and score cheap political points.

Now might be a good time to remind everyone that Pierre Poilievre had to enter a Compliance Agreement with Elections Canada:

Commissioner of Canada Elections Enters into Compliance Agreement with Pierre Poilievre

Plus Poilievre’s only real accomplishment as a Member of Parliament was pushing through Harper’s internationally condemned “Fair” Elections Act. That led to 2015 being the first election in Canada that had to have international observers AND it robbed thousands of their right to vote.

International observers to monitor Canada’s election

By refusing to be briefed and know the truth about foreign interference Poilievre showed us all what really matters to Poilievre. Poilievre. Period.
