With a rainy start to Day 2, plus me getting to Oakdale later than I wanted to, (the 401 + rain = bad traffic), I got to the course and got to some work in the media centre — not with the blogging side, but the editing of the Day 1 video from the tournament, a video which will be coming out on Monday with each day throughout the weekend being released up until this coming Thursday.
Now after the rain and the weather cleared, I took myself outside and headed towards the first tee because the star power that was incoming featured quite a few heavy hitters like 2022 US Open Champion Matt Fitzpatrick.

Once again, I was also on the case of one Rory McIlroy, because he’s technically gone back-to-back in this tournament, thanks to 2020 or 2021 cancellations, and I think we know why those tournaments didn’t happen. I also got Corey Conners, Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose, just to name a few guys teeing it off at the first hole.
Now here is some tweets and I’m off to the rink, aka hole 14.

Well, my afternoon was quite eventful. I spent most of it at the rink, aka hole 14, I know I have referred to it as the penalty box. To clarify, the penalty box is the suites that are lined up at the rink; you have home and visitors, and the score is always 3-2. I got to see some of the same guys that I saw tee off from the first hole, like Harry Higgs, Rory McIlroy, Matt Fitzpatrick and, of course, the Canadian Corey Conners. Now for some footage of that before I sign off officially for Day 2.

After the rink, my day wasn’t done — oh no, it wasn’t. I went to the 16th hole and the 17th hole and got to be a part of Rory’s “entourage”, which in my mind was pretty cool and not a big deal at all.
But with every golf tournament, everyone wants the money shot on the 18th, and I got it with Corey Conners sinking a birdie putt to move him only one stroke back of current leader Carl Yuan of China. So now I ask you this, and we all want to know, will Corey be the first Canadian to win since 1954? Stay tuned as I take you along for what is sure to be an electric weekend from Oakdale Golf & Country Club.

Griff Bordignon
Hi, my name is Griff and I'm a complete sports nut. I love to play sports, watch sports and most importantly bet on sports too. If I'm not watching or betting on sports, you can find me on the golf course, between the pipes as your average beer league goaltender. Although sports take up most of my life, I also love spending time with my two dogs, streaming usually a 90's Simpson's or attempting to read more books.
