Sportsnet: Major League Baseball is placing Roberto Alomar on its ineligible list after reviewing an allegation of sexual misconduct against the Hall of Fame second baseman.
Alomar’s contract as a consultant to MLB in Puerto Rico was terminated, as anyone on the ineligible list is banned from working in the league office or for any team in the majors or affiliated minors. He also served on commissioner Rob Manfred’s competition committee and worked for the Toronto Blue Jays as a special assistant, but that position was restructured as part of wider cost-cutting moves last September.
The discipline comes after an external law firm hired by MLB investigated the allegation and presented its findings to commissioner Rob Manfred, who determined a violation of league policies occurred.
It is a stunning fall from grace for an industry giant, beloved both in his native Puerto Rico and in Toronto, where his No. 12 was retired and his name interwoven into the fabric of the franchise. The Blue Jays announced they would be removing him from the Level of Excellence and taking down his banner at Rogers Centre.

As shocking as this news is, does it surprise you?

At least four different women, including his ex-wife, have made the same allegation – that Robbie had sex with them without revealing he was HIV positive.

In 2009 he was slapped with an injunction to stay away from his ex-wife Maripily Rivera after she went to police with evidence of domestic violence.

He’s paid over 4 million in hush money to avoid public scrutiny through the legal system.

Are you really THAT shocked Roberto Alomar is being shipped to Pete Rose Island after Rob Manfred’s investigation found that he sexually assaulted someone?

I’ve met Robbie Alomar several times.  I’ve played a little golf with him, drank with him, and hung out with him.  He dresses like he’s 21, has always been nice to me and fun to be with and I’ve never seen him do or say anything untoward to a woman.

That doesn’t mean he isn’t guilty of doing really bad things and because I like him, it doesn’t mean I don’t completely agree with pulling his banner and name from the Rogers Center.

MLB reviewed all the evidence and found something so disgusting, they banned the greatest player in Blue Jays history from the game FOREVER.  There’s no middle ground if you care about the truth and doing the right thing.  You don’t need to be found guilty in a court of law to be guilty by your employer and MLB domestic violence policy is cut and dry.  If they find you guilty after their own internal investigation, you are subject to being accountable to those rules.

It’s not ‘soft’ or ‘cancel culture’.  Roberto Alomar has a history of using his dick as a weapon and MLB’s investigation into his latest transgression means Roberto Alomar is now persona-non-grata.  Period.  Stop.

And it’s fucking tragic.
