By now most of you have heard about the Ayres’ story. Dave came in as an emergency backup goaltender for the Carolina Hurricanes against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Hockey Night in Canada. He didn’t just come in for mop-up duty, there was still about half the game left when he entered. The Leafs put a few goals by him (John Tavares didn’t) and the Hurricanes shut it down from there but not before scoring another goal to give Dave the win.

It’s been a whirlwind seven months for the Ayres family and thankfully they’ve been able to return their lives to a normal pace, as much as possible. Sarah Ayres joined the PP1 Podcast on Tuesday to chat about her personal experience and everything that went into her journey through all of the craziness that ensued.

They chatted about how Dave didn’t think he’d go in so he did heavy leg day at the gym and then they both went for Reubens afterward (yikes!). Obviously, the hearty sandwiches didn’t affect his gameplay and his name is now cemented in NHL history and even the Hockey Hall of Fame. So is Sarah’s:

But what no one publicly knew was what has been happening behind the scenes. After much deliberation, they decided on James Corden to do their movie through… DISNEY!!!!
