Senator Batters Angered Over Finally Getting an Answer to Her “Simple” Question About CERB Fraud

Jason Pugh Sep 2, 2023

Seven (!) Months ago, Senator Denise Batters asked this “simple” question:

“So my question is simple. In total, across all government departments, how many federal government employees applied for CERB benefit, how many of them have been fired and how many have been referred to law enforcement?”

In the clip, Senator Marc Gold (Non-Affiliated) told Batters that the government knew when they introduced CERB, there would be aspects that would have to be corrected down the road. Getting help to Canadians was their top priority. He also stated that talking about cases referred to law enforcement would be inappropriate “in this chamber.”

It was an emergency. People were terrified and needed immediate help to pay bills and buy food.

Of course, there would be people out there who would take the “free money” – Cons act like the whole planet was like living in the Garden of Eden before the devil himself, Justin Trudeau, came along.

Plus, I’d like to point out that in her Tweet, the Honourable Senator Denise Batters refers to Senator Marc Gold as “Trudeau’s #SenCA Leader” – so she thinks this is a serious issue but, as all things with Conservatives, the trolling and attacking takes top priority.

Sound familiar?

Poilievre Gives A Clear Answer: As Canada Burns he Prioritizes Spreading Conspiracies to Court Far-Right

Yesterday, Ms. Batters got some answers to her “simple” question from 7 (!) months ago. No, it wasn’t covering ALL federal government departments.

What she did get was this:

120 employees no longer with CRA after inappropriately claiming CERB, agency says

Some accountability! This is exactly what the good Senator was asking for! Surely, she would be happy and thank the government for doing the right thing. Right?

Sen. Denise Batters responded with this:

Then she responded to a tweet with this:

Oh. So seven months ago, Batters was DEMANDING answers and accountability!!! So what does she do when at least some of her demands are met?

She complains about the timing of the firings! Upset that they were announced just before holiday weekends. That they didn’t wave a magic wand and have ALL employees who made fradulent claims from ALL federal government departments fired.

Just to be clear. There were some employees who did make claims and were entitled to it based on their contracts. Some thought they were entitled because they had more than one job. So Batters’ “simple” question is anything but. It’s a case-by-case matter, Batters.

Having these announcements just before holiday weekends denies Batters of what she truly wants. A “scandal.”

To take the actions of those 120 federal employees and place the blame squarely at the Prime minister’s feet.

I like Right Wing, Shoots Left’s (@HILITINGHOCKEY) response:

Exactly. If she were serious, Batters would be happy about getting some answers to her “simple” question.

Her reaction makes it clear. It’s not about holding those 120 federal employees accountable. At all. They could easily be replaced with elitist doughnuts or a lobster roll for her or any of the members of the Convoy Party of Canada.

Have you ever seen someone so pissy over getting what they want?
