Si Señor: The Story Of How She Said Yes In Barcelona

Hello friends! Boy do we have a lot to catch up on. Sorry for the delay in posting but I have had one hell of a week in Barcelona. To recap, DeanBlundell.com was invited by PokerStars to cover the European Poker Tour in Barcelona. What an amazing week it was. I have A LOT to recap, here it goes.

Let’s start with the biggest thing that happened to me. I got engaged. Yes, you read that right. ENGAGED. I had a plan to propose to my lovely girlfriend Lindsay Matthews for a while. The original plan was to do it September 30th but with the Barcelona trip coming up I realized this was the best opportunity. Lindsay went away for a week and I had to go into overdrive and get a ring as fast as possible. I would like to shoutout to the amazing people at Randor Jewellery Inc for the amazing speed and efficiency in getting me a ring before leaving for Spain.

The hardest part was travelling with it. I decided to pack it into my camera bag and thought I was being smart. NOPE! Airport security decided to check my camera bag and take everything out, in front of Lindsay! Luckily I put a note in luggage saying it was a ring and they didn’t take it out.

Fast forward to Spain. I had an elaborate plan to do it on the top of Mount Tibidabo. Folks, nothing ever goes to plan. Lindsay and I were having a talk in the hotel about where she was going to work next year and the topic of money came up. I couldn’t explain why we would have less money moving forward without blowing my cover. I decided right then and there that it was the perfect time.

I hopped out of bed in my purple underwear and did it in the hotel room. Romantic, I know. She said yes and cried a bunch ( so did I) and it was the biggest weight lifted off my shoulders. Advice to anyone wanted to travel with a ring. Don’t do it! I was a stress ball for 2 weeks. In the end it all worked out and Dean knew the entire time. The best part was telling her it’s been a elaborate secret plan for 3 months.

Hopefully I can get Daren ” Big Time” Millard to MC the wedding. He’s in Vegas now, he’s probably going to charge me per letter. Dean also gave us a 65% chance of success. Sweet odds!

I couldn’t be happier to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
