Slipknot has ‘3 songs left’ to finish recording new album!

If you’ve been keeping up with Slipknot singer Corey Taylor’s social media feeds lately, you’ll know that he  tested positive for COVID and that in turn paused finishing up Slipknot’s new (seventh) album.

But the good news is, he’s almost finished recording all the songs anyway.

Taylor did an interview for this year’s GalaxyCon and he filled them in on what’s going on, “I was actually supposed to finish my vocals this week. I got screwed, man, [by the COVID diagnosis]. I actually only have really three songs left to do. I’ve done all the other tracks because I’ve been doing them in between tours, just fucking hitting it.”

You haven’t heard a new Slipknot album since ’19’s “We Are Not Your Kind”. Not surprisingly, Taylor said he prefers the new album to their last, “I actually like this one better than the last one. I loved the last one. It’s really good. There’s some darker, heavier shit on it. There’s some tunes that are actually really outside the realm of what we’ve done before. But it all fucking [coheres] together, it all works together. And there’s some fucking savage, heavy shit, which I’m really stoked on. So it’s gonna be rad.”

Slipknot start up a tour with Killswitch Engage, Fever 33 and Code Orange next month. And if you haven’t heard, they replace Nine Inch Nails as headliners at Riot Fest and Welcome to Rockville.

That is, assuming the tour isn’t cancelled. Seeing a lot more of that these days.
