The Cambodian goverment has a message for all you green thumbs out there: STOP PICKING THE PENIS PLANTS!
The Cambodian Ministry of Envorionment posted the message on it’s Facebook page after a video surfaced of women picking the plants to pose with them.
The carnivorous pitcher plant attracts prey like ants by providing nectar on the lid and rim of the pitcher. Ants fall down the inside of the slippery shaft and into digestive juices. This provides food to the plant. The lid closes to trap food inside and that is when it looks most phallic. It also doesn’t help that the official descriptions of pitcher plants include terms like veins and ribs.
“Slippery shaft” and “digestive juices” is straight out of Penthouse. But let this be a lesson, at the end of the day it’s all about consent, and the Cambodian government does not consent to you touching it’s penis plants.
