Sweet Home Canada For Zach Edey

Dec 9, 2023

From the Gridiron to the Hardwood, as the Hall of Fame Series as the event makes its way to Toronto there isn’t just one game today but two as first Purdue and Canadian Zach Edey take on the Crimson Tide of Alabama. It is a homecoming as Edey is back in his hometown as his Boilermakers look to win it all this coming March Alabama even though they are a football-dominant school, the men’s basketball team is 6-2 and was ranked number 1 in the last year’s NCAA March Madness tournament.

The game got off like the Elephant’s big stomp as Alabama was dominant and controlling the flow of the game early as they got off to a hot 10-3 lead, but Purdue came back but when the train was going down the tracks, the Crimson Tide kept on fighting back to keep the 7 point cushion over Purdue. The Alabama defence has also been making today difficult for the hometown kid Zach Edey, however, he has muscled his way to a team-high 7 points halfway through the first half. Ever since the Crimson Tide got off to a hot start, Purdue has battled back to make this content go from as high as a 12-point lead to a 2-point game. The Tide did get up but the Boilermakers have kept themselves in the fight to make this a 2 game point at the half as Alabama leads 49-47.

The second half started much like the first half did with Alabama cruising to a 9-2 run as Purdue is struggling to find answers here. however, the train was back on the tracks as Zach Edey looked at Purdue and said I got this to have the score go from what could’ve been a Bama blowout to Purdue taking command and leading by as many as 7 points, only crazy as they went down by as much as 12 points during the game. As crunch time was getting closer, it was the Boilermaker’s turn to put the clamps down on the Crimson Tide, much like the Tide did to the Boilermakers early on in the contest. However, the Tide wouldn’t go away quietly as Mark Sears has been a dominant force for the Tide on the day having a team-high 33 points which for now is just a couple of points back from Zach Edey who has a game-high 35 points.

Purdue’s defence was too much to handle as Alabama couldn’t come up with many answers late in the game, plus a handful of miscues, A resilient Purdue team would fight back to take this game 92-86.

Hi, my name is Griff and I'm a complete sports nut. I love to play sports, watch sports and most importantly bet on sports too. If I'm not watching or betting on sports, you can find me on the golf course, between the pipes as your average beer league goaltender. Although sports take up most of my life, I also love spending time with my two dogs, streaming usually a 90's Simpson's or attempting to read more books.
