CARS! LEGO! HOT WHEELS! JUNK FOOD!
After two years of not being held due to something called “covid,” The Canadian International Autshow was back!
Before coivd, before Crier Media, and before the birth of my second child, the Autshow was already something I would circle on my calendar as a “boys’ day out.” It started with just me and my now 7yo and it continues with my 3yo and will continue next year when my third son is here. It’s a stereotypical father/sons bonding day.
We take the train down (not something we do very often), we eat junk food, we explore new venues and cars and I get to try and drop some life lessons along the way. Like how to queue up, which side of the escalator is for walking and which side is for passing, giving people personal space, etc.,
Also, PRO PARENTING TIP, go to the dollar store beforehand and buy a Hot Wheels from there and keep it in your pocket or bag as a surprise at the end of the day. It’s a super simple gesture that will have a big impact and it’s cheaper than paying for it while you are there.
This year I was genuinely honored to receive my first-ever media pass and it happened to be for an event I already loved. I put together my experience below.
Joe Williamson
Bald Canadian who didn’t play hockey until he was in his mid-thirties. Die hard Raptors fan who proudly admits he wept when they won it all. Loves talking parenting, politics, and all things pop culture.
