It’s 150 years of the Argonauts and the Edmonton Elks roll on into the town, this week was filled with celebrations with current players and distinguished alumni.
We got a football game to play as Toronto is coming off their second loss of the year and Edmonton’s season hangs by a thread, as they only sit two games back of third place in the West division and the Saskatchewan RoughRiders.
The game starts with both teams exchanging 2 and outs but on Toronto’s next drive, it’s the backup Cameron Dukes who punches it in to give Toronto a 7-0 lead.

After the Dukes sneak, Toronto did hold off Edmonton and did tack on another 3 points to make the game 10-0, however an arrant Edmonton punt made its way into the back of the Toronto endzone and we go into the second quarter with a score you only see in the CFL of 10-1 for Toronto. Edmonton does get the ball back and are pressing into Toronto territory as QB Tre Ford isn’t going down quietly. Tre’s efforts came up short and they had to settle for a FG, 10-4 Toronto.
Toronto’s Deonta McMahon managed to run the ball into the endzone to strengthen the Toronto lead to 18-4 whch included a successful 2pt convert from the Double Blue, but it was Tre Ford’s athleticism that has Edmonton back into this game as we go into the half with a 18-11 Toronto lead.

We start the third quarter with Edmonton pressing and Tre Ford moving and grooving, but it is Toronto who increases the lead as Boris Bede gets another FG to give Toronto a 21-11 lead and then just as Tre Ford has some momentum, Wynton McManis catches the ball, says thank you and runs the ball back 83 yards for his second pick six in three games and Toronto puts the foot down to make the lead 28-11.

Edmonton has 2 singles in this game, something fun that makes the game 28-12. Toronto has the ball back and just when it looked like Edmonton was getting the ball back, Chad Kelly found Tommy Nield to put the ball at the Edmonton 2 yard line. This was followed by Cameron Dukes getting the ball into the endzone to give Toronto a 35-12 lead.

How will Edmonton answer the bell after this Toronto onslaught of being out scored 17-1 in the second half? Let’s find out together. Well Tre Ford threw his second INT of the night as Mason Pierce gets his first career INT and with that Chad Kelly’s night is over as backup Cameron Dukes takes the reigns at starter.

The Toronto defence held strong and the offence didn’t turn it over, leading Toronto to now have a 13-2 record on the year and a 8-0 record at home after taking care of Edmonton by a score of 35-12. Up next is the Ottawa Redblacks next Saturday, but for me, your’s truly I won’t be there but the Down By Two boys Josh and Jesse will bring some amazing content for you all.
I will be back at BMO Field on Saturday November 11 for the East Final, see you all then.
