The Leafs finally looked like a team that wanted to win

The Toronto Maple Leafs outworked, outplayed, and outlasted the Dallas Stars.

I don’t think I’ve said this yet this year, but the Toronto Maple Leafs deserved the win over Dallas Thursday night. The Leafs played hard, fought for the puck, and earned more than an overtime victory.

Scott Wedgewood is the only reason Dallas walked away with a point. Wedgewood stood on his head and diverted countless scoring opportunities. The Leafs didn’t rest on their talent. Toronto played tough in front of the net and tried banging away at dirty goals.

If you didn’t watch the game, you might have looked at the score and thought it was another poor outing by Toronto. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. I was so happy to see the Leafs have a little fight. Toronto finally looked like a team that wanted to win.

Nick Robertson was the star of the game Thursday night. Robertson scored in the second period to put the Leafs up 2-1 before netting the overtime winner. Robertson forced Dallas to turn over the puck and started the odd-man rush. Auston Matthews fed a beautiful pass to Robertson, who didn’t miss.

I’m not trying to sound too gushy over Thursday’s game. However, I was thrilled to see that type of effort out of Toronto.
