The PGA Tour Players Are FURIOUS And Blindsided That They Have Merged With LIV Golf

Jun 6, 2023

Usually, I’m writing about hockey and/or sports betting. But I had to jump over to golf and have an announcement but I’ll be saving that for the end of the article.

Today, I am here to talk about the LIV PGA Tour merger just days before the golfing world descends onto Toronto for the RBC Canadian Open at Oakdale this weekend.

I do not have a huge opinion on everything, I know the PGA is doing this for a business and cough cough money but a lot of this is viewed in such a negative light and I know that a lot of Golfers found out this morning via Twitter.

While I am at it, two other golfers who didn’t know until the news came out were Rory McIlroy and a guy named Tiger Woods, just more gas on this fire. Along with this is upsetting the 9/11 Families United group as last summer PGA Commissioner Jay Monahan made comments in regards to suspending LIV players from the PGA tour as the Saudis do have ties to the terrorist attack and now feel betrayed by Monahan and were even just as recently as last month talking about the Saudis human rights policies should disqualify them from having a stake in a major American sport but here we are.

This is a bad look for the PGA as a players-only meeting was called today and golf reporter Dan Rappaport spoke to a few players after the meeting where the mood was downright hostile so it should be a fun weekend at Oakdale Golf & Country Club in Toronto.

Now for the news, thanks to Crier Media, I will be covering the RBC Canadian Open for all 4 days of the tournament, something I am truly looking forward to. Stay tuned for a lot of content. But for now, I leave you with one last tweet from the LIV PGA news.

Hi, my name is Griff and I'm a complete sports nut. I love to play sports, watch sports and most importantly bet on sports too. If I'm not watching or betting on sports, you can find me on the golf course, between the pipes as your average beer league goaltender. Although sports take up most of my life, I also love spending time with my two dogs, streaming usually a 90's Simpson's or attempting to read more books.
