Well, it’s here and it looks like perfection to me.
A couple of things that stand out to me:
- I love the choice of animation style. It reminds me of “Into the Spiderverse” which has a unique way of appearing two and three-dimensional while giving it a gritty graphic comic vibe. It steps away from Michael Bay’s take which was an odd and forgettable interpretation.
- The cast is INSANE! You cannot tell me there’s a better version of Splinter than Jackie Chan. I will not hear arguments on this topic.
- Micah Abbey as Donatello
- Shamon Brown Jr. as Michelangelo
- Hannibal Buress as Genghis Frog
- Rose Byrne as Leatherhead
- Nicolas Cantu as Leonardo
- John Cena as Rocksteady
- Jackie Chan as Splinter
- Ice Cube as Superfly
- Natasia Demetriou as Wingnut
- Ayo Edebiri as April O’Neil
- Giancarlo Esposito as Baxter Stockman
- Post Malone as Ray Fillet
- Brady Noon as Raphael
- Seth Rogen as Bebop
- Paul Rudd as Mondo Gecko
- Maya Rudolph as Cynthia Utrom
- This trailer made me want to high-five my 8-year-old self.
My boys are rounding in the perfect age for TMNT so I can only hope that one or both of them fall in love with the Turtles the way I did as a kid so I can not look like a weirdo going to this movie by myself because make no mistake about it, I will be seeing this. With or without them.
