The Weeknd’s Super Bowl ‘Halftime Show Championship Ring’ Is HILARIOUS

TMZ: The Weeknd got a pretty awesome piece of jewelry this week — a sick diamond Super Bowl ring commemorating that epic halftime show in Tampa! No, it’s not an “official” ring like the ones the Tampa Bay Bucs will get — this is a one-of-a-kind piece designed by celebrity jeweler, Elliot Eliantte, who’s worked with some of the biggest names in Hollywood.

We’re told the ring was commissioned by Cash — who’s the co-founder of The Weeknd’s record label, XO — hence the big XO design across the top. The ring contains 16 carats of VVS diamonds — with the words “World Champions” surrounding the Lombardi Trophy.
I was furious a couple of years ago when the Raptors handed rings out to car salesmen and Drake for the same reason. If you didn’t play in or make a concrete contribution to a championship, wearing one makes you a huge wannabe athlete/doucher.
The Weekend’s Super bowl halftime ring might be the weakest of all the fake championship rings. The Weekend is in for a lot of awkward party conversations if he plans on wearing it.
Me: “WOW. Is that a Super Bowl Ring”?
The Weeknd: “Sort of”.
Me: “What do you mean ‘sort of'”?
The Weeknd: It’s a ring from the Super Bowl Halftime Show”.
Me: “They gave out rings during the Halftime Show at The Super Bowl”?
The Weeknd: “No.”
Me: So how’d you get a Super Bowl ‘Halftime Show’ Ring?
The Weeknd: “It was a gift’.
Me: “Fuck, dude. I hope so.”
Drake’s ring(s) was a gift from the Raptors for riding with the team for years as Raptors Global Ambassador. It’s cheesy as fuck that he has two of them but I get it.
The Weeknd’s Super Bowl ring was a gift from a friend for showing up at halftime. We don’t even know if he likes the game of football for Chrissakes.
Probably explains why he had it made.
Ask yourself this question; Would Anne Murray have a Stanley Cup Ring made if she performed the anthem before game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final? No, because she understands that her singing had nothing to do with the game itself and she’s not a huge Tool.
The answer is no, btw in case you were stumped. Championship rings are for Champions, not plugs who sing a medley of their favorite hits during a break.
