These Panthers Roar and Roar Loud

Griff Bordignon Jun 7, 2024

Another year and another appearance from the Eastern Conference by the Florida Panthers. These Cats had another successful season. Finishing first in the Atlantic with 110 points.

They’re a loaded team with depth on forward and defence, plus Bobrovsky holds it down between the pipes with a 2.20 GAA throughout these playoffs, Florida has it all.

The team’s first-round meeting was with inner-state rivals Tampa Bay who they took care of in 5 games, which included Sergei Bobrovsky making the save of a lifetime in game 2.

Round 2 it was Boston for a second year in a row and once again Florida prevailed in 6 games, the biggest story of this series was Aleksander Barkov limiting the Bruins star to 1 goal in 6 games, this after Pasternak took a shit of Leafs fans chests in game 7. Onto round 3 where it was the president trophy-winning New York Rangers and threw throwing everything that wasn’t a kitchen sink at Igor Shestyorkin, the Panthers won the series again in 6 games with a mix of limiting and pretty much shutting down New York’s top offensive stars, Florida found a way to win 4 games.

Now it’s Edmonton that stands in the way of the Panthers bringing the Stanley Cup to South Florida for the first time, something that must get Gary Bettman’s blood Flowing. Florida has what a cup team needs as I said at the beginning of the article, they have a forward core that is productive top to bottom, a defence core that can shut down the elites in the NHL and a goalie who is as cool as a cucumber between the pipes.

Florida also was always the laughing stock in terms of fans in the stands but they have earned their flowers, the team’s season tickets are up and the attendance average shot up 20%, a true testament to building a good team with non-dysfunctional management and people will come.

Hi, my name is Griff and I'm a complete sports nut. I love to play sports, watch sports and most importantly bet on sports too. If I'm not watching or betting on sports, you can find me on the golf course, between the pipes as your average beer league goaltender. Although sports take up most of my life, I also love spending time with my two dogs, streaming usually a 90's Simpson's or attempting to read more books.
