This Maple Leafs/Habs/Nick Suzuki Stick Business Is So Fucking Weird It Hurts My Brain

Full disclosure: We get sent a lot of ‘unfair’ stories by people who think we just fight ‘unfair’.

No-Uh-Uh.  We like stories where stupid people do stupid things and advocate for the fairest possible solution unless the situation calls for the basing of one side.  Then, we move shit around to make it entertaining and educational for all involved.

Take this Nick Suzuki stick story.

Steve took his sone to the Leafs/habs tilt last week.  An INCREDIBLE experience for a father and son, to be sure.

During pre-game warm-up, Steve’s son was gifted a stick and hit in the face with a puck he couldn’t catch.

A life highlight for any hockey-mad pre-teen habs fan.

At first glance, it’s an incredible moment for the young man.  His favorite player on his favorite team gave him a stick and a busted lip.

That’s when Steven and MLSE made it really fucking weird.

According to MLSE, they offered to keep the kid’s stick in a safe place until the game was over.  Dad said ‘No’.  That’s when they were asked to leave, which they did.  Before the game started. Because problem-solving in the best interest of kids is apparently impossible in 2022.

What followed this performance tweet by Steve?   THOUSANDS of people shit posting the Leafs, MLSE for ruining this father/son trip and once in a lifetime opportunity.

HOWEVER, we should really be talking about Steve’s greasy clout chasing and outage baiting for Twitter points using his son to be someone for a day.

MOST fathers would stay for the experience they paid to have with their son instead of deciding the stick was more important than the experience.  Most.  Not Steve.  He wasted $500 and an entire night and it’s MLSE’s fault, too.

I know you can’t bring ‘weapons’ into the Scotiabank center but it hardly looks like this 6-year-old has the ability to go on a murderous rampage with a one-piece hockey stick.  “Give it to us or leave” should not have been only two ways to deal with the perilous “Nick Suzuki Stick Fracas.”

How many Leaf patrons had lighters in their pockets?  Are you gonna take those ‘weapons’ away or tell them to leave, too?  And old man’s cane?  Crutches?

It’s not like the kid was gonna get lit on 10 beers before carving up Leaf fans in their seat.

It’s all so stupid. The dad is dumb, the Leafs are dumb and this kid gets to be the pawn in all of it.

So stupid.
