This Video Of Tiger Woods Getting Mobbed Walking Up 18 Is Something You Might Never See Again

Hogan, Arnie, Jack, Tiger.

Those are the only names in Golf you can associate with a crowd like this walking up 18.

TV ratings were up a mind melting 206% from last years tour finale and set a shit pile of rating records.

It was the first full 18 I’ve watched in 5 years, and it was emotional.  I love the story of Tiger’s Tysonesque fall, but it crushed me at the same time because Tiger in his prime was something the world hadn’t seen before and I was privileged to get to see it.  Eldrick would win 6 of 10 event’s he’d enter, and if he didn’t, he was top 3 or 5.  Tiger missing a cut was unthinkable, and the game wasn’t watchable if he was injured or not in the field.

Tiger was the number 1 ranked golfer in the world for 683 weeks. The next closest active player to him is Rory at 95.

Golf finally felt compelling again this year and other than winning a major, Tiger did the unthinkable.  He beat the 30 best players in the world is the last event after being told he might never be able to stand up straight.

There isn’t a golfer alive that’s had vertebrae fusion surgery that’s been able to compete a the professional level much less win.

From never being able to walk again to watching Tiger raise his arms after destroying the field of the best golfers in the world was more than heroic.  It was a goddamned miracle.

We’ll always have this too.  Those 80 wins come with some baggage.
