Those McDonalds Touch Screens Are Covered In Shit Because People Are Gross

Source:  A study by U.K. newspaper Metro found gut and fecal bacteria on touchscreens in all of the chain’s restaurants it surveyed. It took samples from the screens in eight branches and found that they contained coliform bacteria, a group of microorganisms found in people’s intestines as well as in soil and on plants.

Senior lecturer in microbiology at London Metropolitan University Dr Paul Matewele told the newspaper: “We were all surprised how much gut and fecal bacteria there was on the touchscreen machines. These cause the kind of infections that people pick up in hospitals.”

A McDonald’s spokesperson said in an emailed statement: “Our self-order screens are cleaned frequently throughout the day with a sanitizer solution. All of our restaurants also provide facilities for customers to wash their hands before eating.”

That’ll make you think twice before ordering a Big Mac on the shit stained touch screen, huh.

It’s not that McDonalds is gross, people are.

On a daily basis you come in contact with 11 sets of gentals and feces from 20 different people who don’t wash after going to the bathroom.  Every Door handle, elevator button, handrail, chair and other things you touch as you go about your business is covered in shit, semen, and other delicious bodily fluids.

I love that MsDonalds defence is “Well we have washrooms, yunno!”  Not sure who missed the human factor in dreaming up the self serve touchscreen window, but they should be fired.
