Tiger Fires A 69 Saturday At The Honda Classic And It Could Have Been 64, Easy

Burnt edges.

That’s the story of the day for Tiger Woods as he made his way into the clubhouse with a birdie on the par 5 18th, to fire a 69 and move into the Top 15.

Tiger’s game was on point Saturday in Florida. His swing speed was blazing, with one of his 3-woods surpassing 128 mph. And for anyone who doesn’t know how significant that is, a 128 average would basically lead the PGA for the year. Not bad for an old guy with a back built of Lego pieces.

Another thing that caught my attention during the broadcast was hearing that Tiger is leading the field in proximity to the hole with his approach shots. Damn! If he could only putt this week.

His flat stick was consistent today, but it was consistently burning edges and it just never really going. Besides a couple of long par saves and a beauty putt on 15, if he could have made a few better reads, he could be easily in the Top 3 of the leaderboard.

Regardless of his score, it is just spectacular to see him back hitting some meaningful golf shots. He looks happy, he looks healthy and he looks like we should be betting on him to win the Masters. Suck it haters!

For now, we will watch his game progress, and ICYMI here were some of his highlights from Saturday’s round:
