Exactly one-week-ago I said I wouldn’t be surprised if the Toronto Blue Jays were out of the playoffs by the end of the weekend. Now I’m ready to tell you that Toronto can ride George Springer all the way to the World Series.

Baseball is such a volatile game. When the Blue Jays were slumping it was easy to write the season off. After Toronto won six of their last seven games, it’s time to start talking about the World Series again. 

Alright, maybe it’s too early to talk about Toronto winning championships. But, it’s not too early to agree that the Blue Jays will only go as far as George Springer carries them.

It’s no coincidence that Toronto started playing good baseball when Springer returned from injury. There’s more to baseball than hitting home runs, and Springer delivers critical hits when the Blue Jays need it the most. Having Springer in the lineup also gives Toronto a guy who’s been there and done that. Springer knows what it takes to grind out a season and win a championship. Springer knows how to balance playing loose and with urgency simultaneously. George Springer is the backbone of the Toronto Blue Jays.

I also love the addition of Jackie Bradley Jr. JBJ is another guy who knows how to win a championship. Springer hitting a double and driving Bradley home from second in extra innings Thursday night was the definition of two guys who know how to win.

There’s still a lot of baseball to be played. The Blue Jays still have to win a lot of games. The pitching needs to continue delivering like it has the past seven games. But, one thing I can tell you for sure is, take the Toronto Blue Jays seriously as World Series contenders.
