CBC: A well-known Toronto police officer was arrested and charged with impaired driving in Richmond Hill last month, York Regional Police said Friday.

Insp. Chris Boddy, a 30-year veteran who was the face of the Toronto Police Service’s 2019 gun buyback program, appeared in court in Newmarket this week, York police said.

A Toronto police spokesperson told CBC News that Boddy was suspended with pay as a result of the charge. The incident occurred on Aug. 29.

Boddy was most recently assigned as second-in-command of the force’s Wellness Unit.

He was also active on social media, with 44,000 people following him on Twitter.

Normally I’d rail against this type of behavior but this is nothing more than cop culture’s problem.   I’m actually SHOCKED York Regional Police boned him with an impaired charge.  Traditionally all cops have to do when they get pulled over for anything, including being wasted, is flash a badge and they are on their way.

Cops almost always look the other way with other men and women in uniform and the fact INSPECTOR Boddy was held accountable might speak to how shithoused Inspector Boddy was.

Now is also a good time to dunk on him with old tweets about drinking and driving because there are A LOT of them.

Chris hasn’t posted on social media since his arrest and DUI charge.  He’s probably shitting his pants with embarrassment over being ‘Mr. Don’t Drink And Drive’ with the Toronto Police Service after getting caught drinking and driving, but in his defense, he’d never been charged before because of cop culture (I HIGHLY doubt this is the very first time he got behind the wheel after having some pops).

Traditionally DUI’s are great wake-up calls (provided no one dies) so maybe this is a good thing for Chris.  I’ve met him several times and he was always good to me and he does have 30 years of service filled with positive messaging about being a road-worthy Ontarian.

His arrest doesn’t void all the good he’s done, but he’s probably not the guy you want to lead the TPS Wellness team until he gets a handle on NOT driving wasted.

Or maybe he just thinks he’s unlucky and keeps it up.  I don’t care.  I’m just here for the Schadenfreude content.
