Traditional Sports Journalism Is Dead And We’re Happy To Help Put A Few Nails In That Cheesy Coffin

Apr 22, 2019
||

Over the past year, we’ve tried to separate ourselves from the cancer of ‘Journalism’ or ‘Sports Journalism.’  We’re not better than Journos. In fact, the very word makes me wanna puke.

2 years and 6 million page views later, we’ve been able to become profitable and successful in a space formerly occupied by asshats like Bruce Arthur, Steve Simmons, Paul Friesen, etc.  It was an active goal of ours to not ask a stupid fucking question in scrums or podcasts like The Winnipeg Sun’s Paul Friesen did after the Winnipeg Jets flamed out in game 6.

“You didn’t give your best…What Happened?” ‘Why didn’t you try harder??”.

On behalf of every player in the NHL who loses to a better team on any given night, ‘Go Fuck Yourself, Freeze”. Paul Friesen wrote an article about the Jets big step back that looked like it was written by a guy who is universally hated by the team and players, and he knows it.  He hasn’t given his best in years, thus, the inflammatory, moronic armchair questions.

The issue asshole, self-proclaimed ‘journalists’ are dealing with right now is the rest of the world has caught on to their gaslighting bullshit and no one wanted to call them out in print or on broadcast, until now. In media, radio is afraid of print, print is afraid of TV and TV is afraid of themselves because morons like us decided to use a common sense approach instead of acting like a bunch of self-righteous assholes so someone reads or listens to our stuff.

In the end, that’s why newspapers are firing everyone or contacting stories for 50$ and TV stations give 22-year-old shitty reporters a job that comes with a welfare wage. Radio is free so it’s still the most viable way to introduce someone to content but no one seems to give a shit about that giant open door either.

If you really want a great follow when it comes to pointing out dick butter journo’s grandstanding for clicks hiding behind the title ‘Journo’, look no further than real journo Al Strachan.

Al puts up with ZERO bullshit and knows the game better than anyone. He runs a B&B in FLA and is a guiding light in the forest of meatheads calling themselves ‘writers’.

Al hates, I mean HATES empty bags of skin in this space and he’s way ahead of the curve when he calls people onto the mat (Al owns the mat).

Bruce Arthur is a colossal pussy with a keyboard. He tweets pics of Drambuie on the rocks with the caption “Journalist Life” and Al is living rent-free in Bruce’s head and I’ve decided to join Al as a tenant.

At some point dickheads like Bruce, Steve and Paul will be standing by themselves with their cap in hand because the rest of the free world realizes the ink in their pens are full of the tears they cried as kids who were always picked last in gym class. The good news?. I think we’re getting closer by the day.

Steve Simmons:

Steve’s never met an ambiguous cause he couldn’t turn upside down for attention.

Several years ago an Oiler prospect got wasted in his Native city of Latvia jumped off a bridge and unfortunately passed away. We didn’t know at the time he had passed and neither did Steven. That didn’t stop him from suggesting I was mocking his death which started a huge shitstorm with the Oilers and myself/employer. Steve didn’t mind because Steve and Bruce were birthed from the same journalist sewage Paul was.

I heartily apologized to the family and the organization and learned a valuable lesson about sensitivity and projection. Steve Simmons however did what sewage like him do, deleted the tweet.

Tada!  That’s how you get a group of stupid people on side. Suggest motive as a catalyst for selfish motives and attention. I had lunch with one of Steve and Bruce’s former bosses last year. He said they both ‘knew very little about what they wrote’ and were more like passive aggressive schoolyard bullies who mastered the art of harnessing fake outrage.

Exhibit # 1.

https://crier.co/sports/writer-steve-simmons-uses-humboldt-tragedy-to-shit-on-marc-savards-mental-illness/

Steve used the Humboldt Bus Tragedy to point out Marc Savard never called him back and no one should answer Marc’s calls because Marc didn’t answer his.

-Marc has been in a dark room dealing with the effects of CTE, Mental health, among other things and decided to make a statement about moving forward.

-Steve tied the gruesome deaths of 16 beautiful souls to getting back at a man who couldn’t return his calls. Maybe he forgot about the time he stood up for Kristian Pelss. Or maybe he picks and chooses where he spreads hate. Either way, no one likes him either. And he was a shitty hockey coach.

The good news for us?  We sit here pointing out hypocrisy with joy. We deal with hard shit with some humanity and our pageviews triple month over month.  Bruce, Paul, Steve and (insert the stereotypical grandstanding stay at home gaslighter name here) take ambiguous shots from the cheap seats then climb on shoulders like mine, Blake Wheelers, etc, etc and tell you how tall they are.

They’re not. You’re just trained to think they are because ‘journalists are always right, right?

Fuck, no. Well, at least these ass clowns aren’t.

Jeff Blair is a Journalist. Stephen Brunt is a Journalist Rosie Dimanno and Robyn Doolittle are Journalists

Newspapers are dead because of people like Bruce, Steve, and Paul. They’re great for people like us who sit here with a bucket full of common sense collecting users who feel the same way. They would get eaten alive on their own in a digital world without the Star/SUN brand behind them, and they know it.

Man, this is a fun game. Let’s all go streaking when this is over. This isn’t grandstanding btw. It’s cause and effect.

PS- the only thing less authentic than Paul’s take? His hair. Let it go, man. Be you. Not you from 88′. That’s where he should start.
