APTN News: A Nova Scotia First Nation chief was arrested Monday after opening a treaty lobster fishery.
Chief Mike Sack of Sipekne’katik was detained by officers with the federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) after his community’s boats left the wharf.
He was held at the DFO office in Meteghan in the southwestern part of the province.
“It’s almost a side show, they did that,” Sack said after being released.
“At the same time they are pulling traps from our people. It’s a disgrace.”
DFO officials then hauled the lobster traps out of the water in St. Mary’s Bay.
They have said a treaty fishery is an illegal fishery, and they would move to stop it.
Lobster harvester Jordan Alexander vowed to keep fishing.
“We’re exercising our rights, like we are allowed,” he said of what the courts have decided.
“To do this, it’s an inherent right and they can’t take that from us.”
What a guy. As we continue to discover thousands of bodies tied to indigenous genocide AFTER Trudeau promised transparency and equality, Justin Trudeau is sticking the Indian act firmly in the collective asses of Indigenous people.
The way colonial Canada continues to fuck over indigenous people (in silence) comes via Indian Act which says Indigenous people are NOT allowed to create industry or economy in their communities. This virtue signalling fuck pops out to reservations reeling from his governments genocide of their ancestors to feign support for the community with self serving photo ops. While we’re watching him pretend to care, his federal fisheries department is arresting indigenous people and burning their legitimate community building businesses efforts to the ground.
It’s who this week fuck is and who he will always be.
Before you give him your woke vote ask yourself if his show of support for doing the ‘right thing’ for the ‘greater good’ comes with receipts of those efforts.
Trudeau USED indigenous people and feigned the need for equality for votes. He’s done NOTHING but pay lip service to shitty 7-year-old election promises and he’s using Canada’s indigenous people and their suffering as a prop and he likes it.
