Video: What The Actual Fuck Was Up With The Anthem At Last Nights Grey Cup?

Nov 27, 2017

If by “Very Canadian” TSN means “Shitty, Weird, Boring and Cheap,” yes, it’s VERY Canadian.

I don’t know that its the worst Grey Cup anthem ever, but I’m guessing of the 106 Grey Cups,  this has to be top 3.

If you’re trying to sell the game to Americans, having a shitty church choir led by a guy having some up-tempo jazzy seizure is a bad start.  Americans want big names, big stars and sorry, so do Canadians.  I laughed my ass off watching the anthem because of how genuinely typical it was for the CFL to kick off the party with a guitar, some weirdo and a bunch of volunteer choir singers.

For a league that’s trying to attract a younger generation and wants to endear itself to Canadians, having Yoko Ono’s Canadian son in an Oshawa dinner jacket, freak out like Jo Jo The Circus boy isn’t helping.

Seriously just bring a fucking a cassette tape and hit play if you’re going to do that.  Or better yet, fold the league.

Shania Twain Came out on a dogsled and sang some old songs at the half btw.  Oh, and Toronto won.  They were playing Calgary.
