Video: Alek Manoah set to make first career start for Blue Jays
The Toronto Blue Jays have had a glaring hole in their roster all season long. The back half of their rotation has been abysmal between Ross Stripling, Anthony Kay and Trent Thornton amongst others. Even the Jays’ No. 1 prospect Nate Pearson struggled trying to fill the need.
In steps former 2019 1st-round selection Alek Manoah. The right-hander was selected 11th overall and has seen just nine regular-season starts since being drafted, however, his stat line in AAA speaks for itself. 3-0 across 18 innings, with just one run allowed and 27 strikeouts.
“My stuff plays at this level,” Manoah told reporters just before the AAA season began and he was not lying. Tonight we will see if his stuff plays at the highest level possible as Manoah is set to make his first career start tonight against the Bronx Bombers. Let’s hope the weather holds up for Manoah Day!
