Video: Alex Ovechkin Stops Drinking Long Enough To Have A Baby

Aug 19, 2018

Source  –  The child’s name is Sergei Aleksandrovich Ovechkin and just like his dad, he’s a big boy weighing nine pounds, six ounces.

In naming his firstborn Sergei, Ovechkin honored his late brother who died more than two decades ago when Ovechkin was 10 years old.

Ovechkin rarely talks about his brother but did in 2015, saying: “It was hard but at 10 years old, you obviously [don’t] realize what’s happening. It was a hard moment for my mom and dad, for all my family because oldest son passed away. It was a hard time.”

As pointed out by some users on Twitter, the 8/18/2018 birthdate is rather fitting for the child of “The Great Eight.”

What a year for Ovi.   A Stanley Cup, a baby from his billionaire model wife, and probably a new liver before the playoffs.  Alex is living his best life.

Just because it took 13 years to legitimize his career finally doesn’t mean a thing.  Ovi is a late bloomer and the longer the way, the sweeter the candy.

At 32 Alex leads all active players with 607 goals (19th all-time) and has a solid 4-6 years to chase everyone else if he takes care of his body, (Which he won’t) but it’s fun to imagine his name with Gretzky, Howe, Messier, etc.

It’s finally good to be Alexander Ovechkin and impossible to hate the guy too.
