We see you, Auston.

Auston Matthews has been voted the captain of the Atlantic Division All-Star team. Matthews will be joined by fellow captains Connor McDavid, Nathan McKinnon and Alex Ovechkin.

As per the NHL.com – “Matthews will play in the All-Star Game for the third time in as many seasons since entering the NHL with the Maple Leafs in 2016-17. The 21-year-old center has 34 points (19 goals, 15 assists) in 23 games. He missed 14 games in November because of an injury to his left shoulder but has 18 points (nine goals, nine assists) in 12 games since returning Nov. 28. His 93 goals since the start of the 2016-17 season are fourth among all players; however, he has played 167 games, at least 24 fewer than the three players ahead of him: Ovechkin with 111 goals in 199 games; Winnipeg Jets forward Patrik Laine, 103 goals in 191 games; Tampa Bay Lightning forward Nikita Kucherov, 95 goals in 191 games.”

He’s sick, like so sick. I am a die hard Leafs fan, so I am lucky to see him play all of his games. But, for those who don’t watch him on a regular basis and only see the highlights, when you do watch, look out for his ability to defend, win stick battles on the wall, make small crafty moves to open up a passing lane or gain a step on his defender.

The Maple Leafs are lucky to have the Franchise and to be honest, Matthews is lucky to be named the captain of this game. With Morgan Rielly, Mitch Marner, and John Tavares all having monster seasons, any of the Maple Leafs four horsemen could have been named.

Speaking of captains, the Leafs need one, who would you pick? I am going to let the playoffs play out before I decide.

Ok, maybe not, Matthews is my dude.

Just think if he didn’t get hurt, what type of ungodly numbers he would be putting up right now.

Here are some highlights of his first 7 snipes this season:
