Video: Blue Jays Legend Jack Morris Goes Full Asian Accent Before Shohei Ohtani At Bat. Was It Racist?

I grew up in the ultra white pre-conditioned western Canada and totally suffer from cognitive bias but, it’s a serious question. Was Jack Morris being demeaning and racist by using a (old and possibly racist in origin) saying from MAYBE years gone by or an Elmer Fudd cartoon or MAYBE it was racist?
What do we think?

Yeah. Accents are ALWAYS a tough one for me. While I’m totally willing to admit some implicit bias to not having an issue with accents, I think each example deserves it’s own context and you obviously have to factor the offending person’s history into it.
I don’t know if Jack Morris is racist because I don’t know him and 99.9 percent of people commenting on this don’t either. His statements, are up for judgement and it’s a totally fair question to ask after what I just heard.
Bondzee was talking about massage parlours, reliving a conversation he had with an employee of one who was asian, in the podcast thins week. We told him people don’t do that anymore and we were pretty sure it was racist. After the show I sent him a DM and told him we laughed because it was crazy how he didn’t know that. He said he didn’t mean anything by it and totally got it. The dude is 50 and people are accustomed to the context of the time they grew up in. That has to be a factor before we go off of Twitter like a fucking virtue signalling dickhead.
Jack has to be given the chance to live that apology if he doesn’t have a history of racist shit and I’d take him at his word. Some might not and that’s cool.
I just don’t think we need to access one man’s entire net worth on a mistake. Intentional or otherwise.
