The fallout from Cam Newton‘s comments to a female reporter continued Thursday, as one of the Carolina Panthers quarterback’s sponsors said it would “no longer work with him.”
Michael Neuwirth, a spokesperson for Dannon, maker of the Oikos yogurt brand, said in a statement that the brand was “shocked and disheartened at the behavior and comments of Cam Newton towards [Charlotte Observer reporter] Jourdan Rodrigue, which we perceive as sexist and disparaging to all women.
“It is entirely inconsistent with our commitment to fostering equality and inclusion in every workplace. It’s simply not OK to belittle anyone based on gender. We have shared our concerns with Cam and will no longer work with him.”
To my recollection, this is the first time someone has lost sponsorship due to sexist statements. If you watched the video, the comments were childish and sexist. Laughing at her was just plain fucking mean and stupid.
At what point do we stop attributing his bullshit to immaturity and call Newton what he is. A big fucking baby who has the social compass of a sock.
If he’s walking out on reporters, wearing MVP shoes at the Superbowl, shitting on other players, he consistently acts like an immature dick.
It has everything to do with being a sexist prick. He could have answered every other legit football question like that from male reporters who haven’t played the game which I’m guessing is all of them.
Cam Newton approaches equality the same way dives for fumbles. Like a pussy.
Those yogurt commercials sucked anyway.
