VIDEO: Canadian Superstar Alphonso Davies Has Been Taken To The Hospital With A Suspected Concussion

Oct 8, 2022

As a Canadian Bayern Munich fan, my worst nightmare came to life. Canadian superstar Alphonso Davies has been taken to the hospital after getting kicked in the face in today’s Der Klassiker.

First off, I hope that Alphonso pulls through okay. A player’s safety and well-being means more than any game or World Cup tournament. However, looking at it from a pure football perspective, this is a nightmare with Qatar just around the corner.

Head injuries are not like broken bones. Some guys can be back in a week, others take months, and some retire. So at this point, I’m not going to speculate or try to predict if and when we’ll see Davies back on the field. That said, John Herdman will want Davies back on the pitch as soon as possible.

It takes a couple of weeks and games for players to regain their game legs. Canada plays their first game against Belgium on November 23. Canada may have qualified down the stretch without Davies, but Belgium and Croatia are different types of opponents. Canada needs Davies healthy and top form to try and take the Maple Leaf out of the group stages.
