Video: Did Ron McLean Make An Aids Joke Last Night During The Leaf/Habs Game?

In an exchange with Kevin Bieksa, McLean made reference to a picture Bieksa brought to the show of Cam Stuart shirtless. Ron referenced the picture in the broadcast saying: ‘You have a photo of a guy with his tarp off, you’re definitely positive for something.’

No Bueno, Ron.
What’s going to happen today?
Social media warriors are going HAMMER Sportsnet and CBC with emails demanding Ron’s head for making a ‘gay/HIV joke’ on a national hockey broadcast. And these same warriors are going to start emailing and calling out advertisers and partners of the NHL threatening to shit on their business if they don’t pull their ads over Ron’s comments.
Ron will issue a sincere apology over a comment that got away from him and we may or may not see Ron McLean on a hockey broadcast ever again.

I watched this live and thought about jumping up to record and posting it on Twitter, but it felt cheap. I literally thought ‘I’ll let other people hammer the poor bugger’ because I really didn’t want to be the ‘gotcha-loser’ on the other end of his ending because I know the feeling.  Honestly, I hoped that I misheard so I rewatched it 5 times to make sense of it.

What I don’t really understand is why Ron would go THAT far to make a joke that had no business in the conversation. Like ZERO.

They were talking about being the most positive analyst in the broadcast and for some reason, Ron felt like he needed a shirtless guy segue with a ‘positive’ reference. It’s almost as if Ron thought he was in the Refs room after a house league game having a few pops.
It was HUGELY out of character for him and totally out of context which makes me wonder wtf is up with Ron Mclean.

He’s not homophobic. He doesn’t hate gay people. He thought it was 1988 and he was trying to be funny but failed to read the year or the room.
I can’t explain Ron’s thinking but I can tell you he’s most likely mortified by what he said and what this means for his legacy.

I hope he doesn’t quit or get fired based on what Rogers thinks about the Twitter response to his comments, but he probably will.

Ron needs to be accountable but not to every overly woke asshole who thinks the only recourse is to call for Ron’s firing.

Those people can go fuck themselves.  If they had their way we’d live in a perfect bubble where no one said anything every for fear of upsetting everyone for no specific reason.  Cancel culture or Woke Culture has one play in their playbook: extreme public humiliation.

I bet if we uncovered the personal past of every single culture vulture begging for Ron’s head we’d find atomic hypocrisy.  I’d like to know how many social cucks who ratio’d Ron last night have ever told a racist or sexist joke.  How many of those asshats have stolen something or done something immoral we know nothing about while doing their best to end Ron Mclean’s life for virtue-signaling points?

Probably most of them.

Ron fucked up.  That doesn’t mean he’s homophobic or a danger to the LGBTQ community.  It means he made a mistake and should be allowed to correct it much like the rest of you right fighting pussies deserve the same when you fuck up.

Remember, you giant woke babies, goodness is incompatible with hypocrisy.  Translated: only terrible people want Ron McLean fired because they lack the ability to think critically and are generally not smart enough to factor their own hypocrisy into their response.

The real problem for Rogers?  Trusting Ron to walk this back and perform again without having an 80’s seizure mid broadcast that sounds like gay-bashing.
