Video: Former NHL Player, Adam Johnson, Died After Taking A Freak Skate Blade To The Neck (Graphic)
Former Penguins draft pick Adam Johnson died yesterday. He took a skate to the throat after taking a hit crossing the blue line in an English Elite League game in England.
FYI: The video is horrific. Clint Malarchuck-esque with a terrible ending. It’s graphic, so watch with care.

Source: The horrifying incident took place during the second period of the Challenge Cup game between the Nottingham Panthers and the Sheffield Steelers at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena.
According to multiple reports, the 29-year-old Johnson was slashed by the skate of an opposing player during a collision on the ice.
“The Nottingham Panthers are truly devastated to announce that Adam Johnson has tragically passed away following a freak accident at the game in Sheffield last night,” the Panthers said in a statement Sunday morning.
“The Panthers would like to send our thoughts and condolences to Adam’s family, his partner, and friends at this extremely difficult time. Everyone at the club, including players, staff, management, and ownership, are heartbroken at the news of Adam’s passing.”
It was a freak accident. Underscoring the fact we’re never guaranteed tomorrow, freak accidents happen. There’s nothing but misery here, so my thoughts are with anyone who knew Adam to be the man we’re hearing about today—especially his loved ones.
Brutal.
