Video: Jeff Bezos Is So Rich He’s Travelling To Space Next Month On His Own Rocket

NYPOST: Jeff Bezos is set to beat his billionaire buddies to space.
Bezos announced Monday that he will fly to space next month on Blue Origin’s first crewed flight.
The flight is scheduled for July 20, Bezos said in an Instagram post. That’s about two weeks after he is set to resign as CEO of Amazon.
Bezos’ younger brother Mark will join him, as will the winner of a public auction currently being held for another seat. Bidding on the auction stood at $2.8 million Monday morning.
“Ever since I was five years old, I’ve dreamed of traveling to space,” Bezos said Monday on Instagram. “On July 20th, I will take that journey with my brother. The greatest adventure, with my best friend.”
In a hashtag in the post, Bezos gave a nod to the Latin phrase, “Gradatim ferociter,” which means “step by step, ferociously.”
“I want to go on this flight because it’s the thing I’ve wanted to do all my life,” Bezos added in a video announcement. “It’s an adventure. It’s a big deal for me.”
Barring surprises, the trip would make Bezos the first of the billionaire space tycoons to travel to space through their own companies. Elon Musk, founder and CEO of SpaceX, and Richard Branson, founder of Virgin Galactic, have yet to ride with their companies to space.

Has Jeff Bezos worked his entire life so he can travel to outer space? Am I missing something here? That’s kind of what I’m getting from Bezos’s video and the announcement that he’ll go first when Blue Origin sends tourists into space. Did he start a bookstore 20 years ago with the expressed purpose of parlaying that bookstore into the world’s biggest tech company with an eye to space travel?
Talk about playing the long game.
You can hate Jeff Bezos for a variety of things, but you have to respect a man who spent a lifetime gaming the tech and business sector as a springboard as a stepping stone to building his own personal rocket ship.
There’s rich, then there’s ‘build your own rocket ship so you can go for a rip in space’ rich. It’s mind-blowing to think that every earth-shaking business move Bezos made was so he could one day quit and realize a childhood dream. He owns the most valuable company in the world.
He’s revolutionized shopping and delivery WORLDWIDE and just bought MGM for 9 billion (chump change) he bought the Washington post a few years ago as a lark.
He’s building the world’s most expensive yacht and managed to get Whole Foods to charge less than $10 for an apple so space travel is the final frontier and being first among billionaires is a big deal to billionaires so off Bezos goes, making good on his boyhood dream.

PS: Notice how he’s going to space a month after stepping down as chairman?
It’s tough to run the world’s biggest cooperation when you’re scattered into a million pieces in the atmosphere.
Best of luck, Jeff!
