Video: New Trailer For Ricky Gervais “AfterLife” Is Brilliant

Mar 7, 2019

I don’t know why every Ricky Gervais project is so offensively funny, dark and real, but I don’t care.  If this Trailer for ‘After Life’ has a sliver of the emotionally hysterical, dank feelings we can all relate to, I can’t wait.

The internet already has a major issue with Gervais new show.

Today we posted a piece on how disgusting the #LeavingNeverland doc on HBO was.  It detailed the sexual abuse of at least two of his victims, Wade Robson And James Safechuck and why Radio needs to stop playing Michael Jackson’s music immediately.  In the post, I insinuated soccer moms who listened to Easy Listening radio stations wouldn’t notice if you pulled Jackson’s music from their playlists.

We received an email complaint within 2 hours from someone (soccer mom) offended by the sexist statement ‘in the magazine post’ putting down females whose kids play sports.  She then called me a pedophile and told me to ‘Eat ‘Shit’.  She’s probably wearing track pants crushing a dart outside her local pub praying she left some Saltines and Kolbassa out for her kids.

It’s a great example of how everyone will completely miss the point of Gervais ‘Afterlife’.  Ricky didn’t make the show so he could call a fat kid with red hair a ‘Tubby Little Ginger Cunt’.  He made the show to Illicit as many emotional responses from people as he can.  The Office, Derek, and Afterlife are all shows you can relate to in some fucked up way.  Awkward office relationships, innocence, embarrassment, love, death, hate, outrageous laughter, moments we’ve thought about having but don’t have the knob to go through with.

Having said that, I absolutely would be the exact same way and to some extent have.  Living saying and doing whatever you want because there’s nothing left to enjoy and It feels like a superpower to think that way.  Drink, Eat, Insult, Repeat…Death.  There’s no external fallout or consequence if you just don’t give a shit, right?  It’s like permanently living with a disease until you decide it’s over.

9.3 million people considered suicide last year.  Double that number; maybe triple it because those numbers were people brave enough to be honest

Not one person I know hasn’t considered it or at least thought about it.  There’s relevance in everything Gervais does and makes statements with projects like this.  You might not like what’s in the messaging or some of the language but I highly doubt Ricky Gervais gives a shit.

“If you have to keep apologizing for something you did 10 years ago, there’s no value to improving.”

Take it with you.
