Actually, I don’t even think it was a joke. When you get caught and outed for sexually assaulting women over 30+ years, your wife leaves you and you lose everything you’ve worked for, that’s a bad week. A very well earned and deserved bad week but a bad week nonetheless.
The sensitivity to it is an obvious reference to the victims of “Bathrobe Harvey” and rightfully so, but that had nothing to do with Michaels comment. Was it necessary? No, but it’s hardly an attempt to make light of victims of the most disgusting man in America. That narrative get’s driving by twidiots looking for a place to happen.

If you need to be offended by Weisntein comments, take aim at James Cordon hosting the amFAR charity night. Using victims to be funny is a major dick move. Michaels not so much.
