ALS might be the worst disease ever.  I have nightmares during sleep paralysis of having ALS, and I can’t wake up from them.

Marine Biologist Stephen Hillenberg passed away of ALS yesterday at the age of 57.

When my eldest (19) was 5, we started watching Spongebob together, and there was one episode that grabbed me hook, line and sinker.  Spongebob wanted to make his ritual Sunday Sundae and had no ingredients.  Substituting ketchup for ice cream, he was in need of some peanuts.

Wondering where he might have some, Hillenberg snuck in the most adult reference into a kids show you’ll see.

I haven’t laughed out loud during a show my kids were watching since.  The timing was perfect, and the shit reference was cloaked in beauty.

I’m still a fan.   I can still sit through a Marathon with my youngest who’s 12 and growing out of Spongebob.  Not me.  One perfectly placed poop joke and I’m a fan and will be forever.

Thanks, Stephen.  I’ll be making an Onion Sundae in your honor today.
