“Play stupid games, win stupid prizes”.

Meet Jenna Ryan. She plastered her trip to Washington for last week’s insurrection all over social media which was a GREAT idea. Thanks to her clout chasing efforts, the FBI has been busy finding, arresting, and charging people like her, and predictably, they are ALL begging for pardons and it is Schadenfreude porn, to me.

‘I was just doing what the President told me to do and I don’t want to go to jail so I’m calling on President Trump to pardon me’.

That’s awesome.
I love the look she gives at the end of her shameless begging too. It’s the same look she probably gives someone at the buffet table when she scoops the last coconut battered tiger shrimp.

Jenna took so much pride in storming the Capitol last week, she made sure to rent a private jet loaded with booze and some equally stupid friends, documenting every step of her journey on Social Media, including the part where she breached the Capitol building.  It’s the equivalent of posting every aspect of you murdering someone online then wondering why you can’t go free.  Now she’s been charged, she’s begging her President to let her off the hook, and I love it.

When bad things happen to bad people, I get excited.  It’s probably a character flaw but I lean into these examples because these people have tormented regular folks for years with rhetoric and violence derived from their own stupidity.  Sure, the overall chaos in the US is sad but hiding in all that sadness is an incredible amount of life-giving Schadenfreude.

‘Schadenfreude’ is German in origin.  ‘Schaden’ translated means ‘Damage’ and ‘Freude’ means ‘joy’.  ‘Schadenfreude’ done right, can be the ‘gleeful’ so take advantage of this moment in history. Enjoy the self-inflicted misfortune of others, in this case, dumb racists like Jenna Ryan, who willingly detached themselves from reality and accountability just to be assholes.

Enjoy the process. Bathe in the stupidity/schadenfreude while tweeting freely because you can.   It helps to revel in the simple freedoms we have and it will drive every moron crazy as they wait for their turn in the barrel.
