In the teaser trailer for “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story” we get our first extended look at a surpsingly convincing Daniel Radcliffe donning the Hawaiin shirt and curly hair that is Weird Al. Set to stream sometime later this year on the Roku Channel the movie “holds nothing back, exploring every facet of Yankovic’s life, from his meteoric rise to fame with early hits like ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon’ to his torrid celebrity love affairs and famously depraved lifestyle.”

Before I get back to commentary allow me this brief aside to ask, “Is Daniel Radcliffe hot or was Weird Al secretly hot?” I mean, look at this image.

Like, GOD DAMN! Jacked and shredded, swigging a bottle of booze on stage like a fucking rockstar. Daniel’s got me over here questioning my sexuality.

But I digress, I just wrote a love letter to George Carlin the other day so I’ll resist the urge to wax poetic about my love for Weird Al but I will say there’s a theme to people I’m drawn to in celebrity. The shit disturbers. The ones who challenge the status and take the air out of things that take themseleves too seriously. Weird Al was and continues to be a master of making the nerds feel welcomed and cool.
