WATCH: Conservatives refused to applaud Canada standing up for 2SLGBTQI+ rights on the world stage

Hours ago in the House of Commons during Question Period Liberal MP Lisa Hepfner asked the Minister of Labour, Seamus O’Regan, what he said before the UN International Labour Organization about 2SLGBTQI+ rights.

Watch:

“But once those rights are achieved. Once they are named we will not stand by and see them swept under the carpet or put back in the closet or taken away.

Not here. Not there. Not anywhere.”

What an excellent speech by Seamus O’Regan. Standing up for human rights on the world stage. Stating loudly, proudly and clearly that Canada will not stand by while human rights in other countries are taken away.

Something that every single Member of Parliament should applaud. Every MP sent to that house represents members of the 2SLGBTQI+ community.

However, Pierre Poilievre and his Conservative Party caucus just sat there in their seats.

So hellbent on being partisan that they just could not be seen supporting a Liberal standing up for human rights on the world stage.

This after Poilievre refused to attend the annual raising of the Pride flag on Parliament Hill, which the Prime Minister commented on:

Poilievre on why he didn’t attend stated “I was working last night, until midnight, fighting against inflation and interest rate hikes, and that was my focus and will continue to be my focus.”

Yes. That’s right. Pierre Poilievre said he couldn’t attend the flag raising because the previous night he had pulled his little “silly-buster” filibuster to block the budget bill where he spoke until ALMOST midnight!
(Accomplishing absolutely nothing.)

This Global article on Poilievre missing the flag raising includes a video from June 02, 2023, where Poilievre talks a LOT about freedom for everyone!

Poilievre misses Pride flag raising, says he was working late

Poilievre worked almost until midnight so he couldn’t attend the flag raising the following morning.

At that press conference, Poilievre wished “everyone a happy Pride month, because our freedom is something in which all of us can take pride.”

Yet this was his reaction in the House of Commons today:

It’s partisan politics above all else for Poilievre’s CPC

Once again, Pierre Poilievre shows us who he really is.

To end this on a positive note, here is Mr. O’Regan’s speech.

Happy Pride.
