Watch The Surviving Members Of Nirvana Reunite This Past Weekend!

The surviving members of Nirvana reunited over the weekend (Saturday, January 4) at The Art of Elysium charity’s annual “Heaven” gala at the Hollywood Palladium in L.A. Dave Grohl played songs with Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear and various frontmen/women to help raise money for communities in need!
Grohl, Novoselic and Smear played five songs, with Beck, St. Vincent and Grohl’s 13-year-old daughter Violet singing. “Lithium” (video below) featured St. Vincent, Beck sang “In Bloom” and “Been A Son”. Violet sang “Heart-Shaped Box” and closed the set with a cover of David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold The World”.
According to The Art Of Elysium website (founded in 1997 by Jennifer Howell), they’re a non-profit that supports “individuals in the midst of difficult emotional life challenges like illness, hospitalization, displacement, confinement, and/or crisis. We serve medically fragile children, teens, adults, seniors, those dealing with social, emotional and mental health issues and the homeless.”
You may remember that Grohl, Novoselic and Smear previously reunited at the end of a Foo Fighters’ show at Cal Jam festival in October 2018. They played six songs and were joined by Deer Tick singer John McAuley and Joan Jett as vocalists.
In 2017, Grohl talked about Nirvana’s Rock Hall reunion, “I got together with my old bandmates, Krist and Pat, and guests including Joan Jett and Lorde, and we played those songs again. It sounded just like it did, but, of course, with one thing missing. We hadn’t played a NIRVANA set since Kurt [Cobain] died. Could we do that again? I don’t know.”
Do you think Nirvana’s music would be as celebrated as it is today if Cobain hadn’t killed himself?
