Watch Tool’s Acceptance Speech After Winning Grammy Award!

Wow. Gotta admit, I’m kinda shocked that Tool got the recognition they deserve. They won a a Grammy award fro “Best Metal Performance” at this weekend’s 62nd annual Grammy Awards.

Drummer Danny Carey and bassist Justin Chancellor accepted the award on behalf of the band. Carey, in part, had this to say: “I’d like to thank all the Gods, ’cause I don’t think it’s a good time to piss any of them off. My bandmates Justin, Adam and Maynard, who I couldn’t do anything without. And my mom for educating me and over a thousand other people. My lovely mother of my children — about-to-be children; just a child right now. This is for you also, baby.”

Here are the bands that were nominated in the “Best Metal Performance” category:

  • CANDLEMASS – “Astorolus – The Great Octopus” (feat. Tony Iommi)
  • DEATH ANGEL – “Humanicide”
  • I PREVAIL – “Bow Down”
  • KILLSWITCH ENGAGE – “Unleashed”
    * TOOL – “7empest”

The Grammys are voted on by approximately 13,000 Recording Academy members, who are comprised of artists, songwriters, producers and engineers. More than 21,000 recordings were submitted for Grammys consideration in 2019.
