Why Oat Why? Oat and About in Buffalo

Jun 12, 2024

Tonight we are at Sahlen Field in Buffalo, but our Bisons are nowhere to be found… However, the boys are still here, just masked as the “Home Team” of Minor League Baseball, the Malmö Oat Milkers.

If you weren’t aware, there are actually 121 Minor League Baseball teams… 120 of them being legitimate MiLB teams, and one being a Swedish oat milk brand team.

So many questions come to mind… Including, what is their slogan? What is their mascot, lactose intolerance? Do people in Sweden watch baseball?

Okay, let’s calm down. It’s just a brilliant marketing promotion that I am loving.

Each team in the MiLB will play a single game in the Oatmilk uniforms, and today was the Bisons’ turn.

It also happened to be the Bisons’ Tops Dog Days at the Park. So there were dogs, oat milk cartons, and a plethora of puns being thrown around.

Sponsored by Oatly, the Bisons sported some sharp looking black and white jerseys with “Baseball Player” on the backs.

I do feel like they missed a great colour scheme opportunity… I mean… if your team is called the Oatmilks, and your jerseys aren’t oat… what are you even doing?

But I guess I’m just coming off a scorn from the new Jays City Connects.

Either way, I’m buying some oat milk tonight.
