Why You Should Book an Airbnb in Ukraine

Joe Williamson Mar 7, 2022

It’s not all just trolls and kids on TikTok, sometimes the internet is a truly magical place.

Thousands of people all over the world are booking Airbnb stays in Ukraine with no intention of showing up. It’s a brilliant way to ensure that the people of Ukraine have a stready flow of money to support those who need it the most right now and speaks to inguinity of good samaritans.

The news this past week has been dominated by what companies are doing to hurt the people of Russia so it felt like a breath of fresh-air to see some news about people helping those in Ukraine. To encourage this organic groundswell of support Airbnb has said they will temporarily wave it’s guest and hosting fees in Ukraine. The initative has been so successful that some esitimates put it at two-million dollars raised in a matter of days.

But it’s not just the money. It’s the messages of love and support that are having an impact as well. It’s helping keep morale and spirits high. And maybe best of all, it’s tangible. The people there can see it. It isn’t just an abstract concept of the world being supportive. It’s real.
