Will History Repeat Itself at the RBC Canadian Open

Griff Bordignon Jun 1, 2024

Remember history with Nick Taylor’s 72-foot Eagle putt to end the 69-year Canadian drought, well I’m back to cover the 2024 RBC Canadian Open at the prestigious Hamilton Golf and Country Club.

We enter Saturday with New Zealander Ryan Fox leading with a -10 through 2 and a 64 on Friday, however the two other golfers right behind Fox, I’m keeping tabs on are Full Swing star and fan favourite Joel Dahmen who’s two back of Fox and local boy from Dundas, Ontario, Mackenzie Hughes, yes folks we can see Canadians potentially go back to back if that were to be the case, I’m Canada’s golf good luck charm.

Through the third day, the leaderboard hasn’t changed much, but tomorrow we will be boots on ground following Mackenzie Hughes who as of me writing this is -1 through his first four holes and is 3 strokes back of the Kiwi Ryan Fox.

Last year we saw the drought come to an end with Nick Taylor and if Mackenzie can find a way to win, it would be the first time that Canadians go back to back since 1913-1914, 110 years. More to come from Hamilton Golf and Country Club.

Hi, my name is Griff and I'm a complete sports nut. I love to play sports, watch sports and most importantly bet on sports too. If I'm not watching or betting on sports, you can find me on the golf course, between the pipes as your average beer league goaltender. Although sports take up most of my life, I also love spending time with my two dogs, streaming usually a 90's Simpson's or attempting to read more books.
