WTF is going on with Kevin O’Leary??

Aug 29, 2019

Today I woke up ready to leave Barcelona and Billionaire Canadian Kevin O’Leary (Shark Tank, Dragon’s Den, Etc) was front-page on Spanish GOOGLE.  That’s weird over here because 1) Messi or FC Barcelona hasn’t moved from the front page of GOOGLE, once and 2) I know Kevin a little and had a cottage on Lake Joe for years.

O’Leary was involved in a boating accident on Lake Joseph where two passengers in the other boat were killed.

Originally O’leary’s explanation was his wife was behind the wheel and she did the killing and released this statement.

Kevin’s a good dude so I’m not bagging on him but his story about what happened the other night in a nutshell:

“Late Saturday night I was a passenger in a boat that had a tragic collision with another craft that had no navigation lights on and then fled the scene of the accident. I am fully cooperating with authorities,” he said in a carefully-crafted statement.

“Out of respect for the families who have lost loved ones and to fully support the ongoing investigation, I feel it is inappropriate to make further comments at this time. My thoughts are with all the families affected.”

The Sun: The other boat was not fleeing, sources told the Sun, but racing to shore to get desperately-needed medical assistance for two critically injured passengers.

A Brito family member — who spoke on condition of anonymity — claimed that it was O’Leary who fled the scene of the crash and that his boat was later found docked at a nearby resort.

The distraught relative said the family is also wondering how long after the crash that O’Leary’s wife was given a breathalyzer.

Another person who knows some of the people who were on the other boat said they are “pissed” about the businessman’s seemingly aggressive PR campaign.

“Kevin’s boat was flying with the bow up and probably obscured the view of the front of his boat,” the friend said, adding that O’Leary is “overselling” his side of the story.

Linda O’Leary, who had posted photos from Lake Joseph earlier this month, changed her Instagram settings to private on Wednesday. A spokesman for Kevin O’Leary said she passed a drug and alcohol test.

According to investigators, the two dead victims were on a 13-person craft returning to a nearby cottage after a pleasure cruise when it was allegedly struck by O’Leary’s boat.

OOOOHHHH.  ‘No Bueno’ As they say here in Spain.  Conflicting reports from 11 other people VS disputing everything you’ve said is a tough sell too.

I’ve met Kevin several times and he’s always been nice to me.  Personable and happy.  His son is a dick who’ve I seen drunk and belligerent a few times at Cleveland House who became a local party legend over the years.  But, every time I’ve met Kevin he’s treated me well as I have him.

That doesn’t mean he’s innocent or at least not telling the truth about what happened.  Red flags for Dean; pointing out his wife was driving in a press release then saying someone was driving erratically planting a seed of mischief is weird.  Had he just come out with a generic –  ‘Yeah, something terrible happened and our thoughts are with the victims and their families and we will work with the authorities in any way to resolve the issue in any manner’ we wouldn’t be here.

It’s a shame.  O’Leary is my favourite LOL meme.

If he did flee the scene and concoct the story, he’ll never be able to show his face in Muskoka again, THAT much I know.  It’s the #1 vacation destination in the world and that’s why he’s there.

Sucks to be him today.

Worse to be the families of the victims in whatever happened out there which sure sounds less and less like what Kevin said happened.
